My Aged Care Podiatry Services in Canberra

New Step Podiatry is passionate about making podiatry care accessible to all people in our community. The My Aged Care – Support at Home program offers people over the age of 60 with varying abilities and/or health conditions access to our Podiatry services.

My Aged Care is a government initiative that assists people over the age of 60 to receive government funded aged care services including health care. Once registered with My Aged Care, they will organise an in-home assessment and then based on your needs, they will sign you up to either a Home Care Package (HCP) OR Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) helps older Australians access entry-level support services to live independently and safely at home. CHSP works with you to maintain your independence rather than doing things for you.

Home Care Packages (HCP) are one of the ways that older Australians can access affordable care services to get some help at home. They are designed for those with more complex care needs that go beyond what the Commonwealth Home Support Programme can provide.

Please note the Australian Federal Government plans on rolling out a new program that will encompass all the package types into one, called the Support at Home Program. As of early 2023 this rollout is expected to occur mid-2024.

In order to access this program, the client will need to register with My Aged Care to get approved for a government funded home care package by following the steps listed below.

  1. Register with My Aged Care
  2. My Aged Care will assess your needs in your home
  3. Prepare your finances
  4. Select a [home care package] provider and let New Step Podiatry know who was chosen. Below is a list of home care package providers New Step
  5. Podiatry has agreements with.
  6. Start services

New Step Podiatry will liaise with your preferred provider and we will send the Provider an initial quote for the first appointment and will seek approval for the funding. After the initial consultation, the Podiatrist will send through a secondary quote for ongoing (12 months) podiatry services for approval; a new quote will be sent at the start of each 12 month period from New Step Podiatry to the Provider for approval.

New Step Podiatry offers podiatry services for clients at their homes or in the clinic. Please note that conditions apply for the home visits as we have very limited service availability.

Eligibility is based on your care needs as determined through an assessment, but you must also be: an older person who needs coordinated services to help them stay at home, or
a younger person with a disability, dementia or other care needs not met through other specialist services.

Your financial situation won’t affect your eligibility. But you may also need an income assessment through Services Australia to work out exactly how much you may be asked to contribute. More information is available on the My Aged Care website.

As of early 2023, New Step Podiatry has agreements with the below providers. If you have a preferred provider who is not on the list below, no worries! All you need to do is give us their details and we can liaise with them and set up an agreement.
